Catnic expands the use of green energy

Catnic GmbH, based in Sinsheim, is committed to using green energy. Since 2017, the company has exclusively purchased hydropower-generated electricity. Hydropower represents one of the most sustainable methods for generating CO2-free electrical energy: It is always available and, in contrast to other types of renewable energy, can even be regulated or stored if necessary.

“This was why Catnic opted for a provider of hydropower”, the General Manager Udo Berg emphasises. In addition to switching providers, Catnic has also equipped a large part of its storage space with LED lighting. “Since we switched to hydropower, we have been saving 31 tonnes of CO2 every year and are unwavering on our chosen path.”

This summer, two halls with seven production lines for plaster profiles and ribbed expanded metal will be put into operation. The new buildings also use hydropower-generated electric energy and are equipped with economical LED lighting. Additionally, the company is currently working towards certifying its entire environmental management in accordance with ISO 14001 and is planning to gradually replace its current fleet with electric vehicles.
